Religious and Spiritual Life
÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ believes that faith and spirituality are a significant aspects of many students’ lives and that the free exercise of religion, as well as conversations among people with different world views, is integral to the educational mission of the College and to the quality of student life on campus. We strive to create and support spaces and programs on campus that facilitate religious and spiritual community-building, exploration, and inquiry. Our intent is to celebrate and empower ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥â€™s diverse religious and spiritual community and to welcome interfaith dialogue.

Interfaith Chaplain
Expanding Multi-Faith Chaplaincy
In 2025-26, we hired Soaad Elbahwati as our inaugural Assistant Chaplain for Interfaith Life for a one-year pilot project to nurture the spiritual health and life of students of all faiths, with particular attention to improving understanding and awareness of Muslim life on and around ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥â€™s campus as we expand our approach to spiritual wellness on campus. Elbahwati is a graduate of ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Religion here. She earned a Master of Theological Studies at the Harvard Divinity School and has served as an Assistant Chaplain at Suffolk University’s Interfaith Center. Additionally, Elbahwati has experience working at the Office of Community and Belonging at Harvard’s Divinity School. Elbahwati is deeply committed to pastoral care, community, and dialogue. We will also host a visiting instructor in spring 2026 to teach a course about Islam in America. The chaplain, faculty member, and students will together explore how Muslim students are supported on other campuses and develop a proposal for what we can do at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ in an ongoing way to best support the academic, spiritual, and communal growth of all our students.
